FAQ

  • Where do I start?
It's simple, just create your first RSS feed using the RSS CREATOR form.

  • Why is my RSS good only for 15 minutes?
Your newly created RSS feed is valid forever. It just disappears from our servers 15 minutes after creation. We need to keep the space clean and available for others. If you want to keep the file longer and don't have a web server to publish it on, just use our RSS PUBLISHER form and we will store your RSS feed for you permanently and for free.

  • How many items do I have to have in my RSS feed?
It's really up to you. From one to anything, however, most RSS feeds have anywhere between 10 to 15 items. Our tools do limit the number of items per RSS feed to 15. It is really controlled by the RSS EDITOR form.

  • How do I create those cool looking RSS items with thumbnail images like Yahoo does?
First, create a small RSS feed using RSS CREATOR, for example with only one item in it. This way it won't take too long to do it. Then use our RSS EDITOR to add a new RSS item with a thumbnail image in it. You need to have a suitable image on your webserver somewhere on the Internet. Please, be sure the images are sized right, e.g. that they are really thumbnail images of small pixel and byte sizes.

  • How do I know RSS XML file is valid?
Use our RSS VALIDATOR form to find out. The other way is, of course, our RSS VIEWER. It will display a correctly formatted RSS feed of your choice as a web page. It even remembers some of the RSS feeds you viewed previously, so you don't have to look for them.

  • What can I do with RSS?
You can share it with others so that they know about your web pages even before going to your website. Almost every larger and many smaller web sites offer RSS. It's used for marketing of your content website and many other things. There are many search engines that allow people to find RSS feeds from other websites. RSS is read through RSS readers that exists on the web like our RSS VIEWER or MyYahoo! or as a program that can be installed on your PC.

  • My Blog provider only offers Atom feeds
Atom is another feed format, similar to RSS, but not quite the same. RSS is much broadly used on Internet by large media companies, so it does make sense to provide your feed in RSS rather than Atom format. It is easy to convert Atom to RSS with our Atom-to-RSS converter.

  • Do you provide other SEO related tools?
You may want to try our PageRank tool that tells you the current PageRank of your URL determined by Google. You can measure improvements in ranking by this tool as well.
